
Course Aims
- A transformative journey through the Quran is a Quranic Exegesis ( (Tafsir) course taught over an academic year.
Abu Darda’ reported that Allah’s Messenger, blessings and peace be upon him, said: “If anyone learns the first ten verses of the Sura al Kahf by heart, they will be protected from the Dajjal.” (Muslim)Abu Sa’id al Khudri reports that the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, said: “Whoever recites Surat al Kahf on Jumu‘a a ray of light will shine for them from one Jumu‘a to the next.” (Nasa’i, Bayhaqi, Hakim)
Course Structure
- Term 1 will start with Sura Al Kahf and continue with other transformative sura in terms 2 and 3. These may include but not be limited to Sura Yasin, Maryam, Baqarah and others.

- Surah Al Kahf:
- The scholars agree that this chapter is a Meccan chapter. The scholars differ about the the number of verses in this chapter (not the number of words) the Kufiyun say one hundred and ten, the Shamiyeen say 106, The people of Hijaz say 105, the Basriyun say 111. There are 1599 words in this chapter, its letters 6306. It’s verses all end with an Alif. The reason why the chapter is called al Kahf (the cave) is because the first story which appears in this chapter is the story of the people of the cave.
